FANNY LUMSDEN

Born and bred on a farm in Western NSW, 600km from the nearest city, Fanny Lumsden grew up riding horses, helping on the farm, and living a seemingly idyllic Aussie country upbringing with her family. Music was a big part of the Lumsden household with everyone playing instruments and singing and there was never any doubt that Fanny was a born show pony. Having completed her AMEB grades on piano and music studies at high school, Lumsden went away to study a Bachelor of Rural Science before moving to Sydney where she started playing shows and going to songwriter nights. It was there Lumsden met her band members The Thrillseekers and from that point, the Fanny Lumsden story began.

Over the course of Lumsden’s acclaimed career she’s maintained a fiercely independent approach, releasing her music through her own label, Red Dirt Road Records. Her second album, 2017’s Real Class Act, debuted at Number 1 on the ARIA Country Charts. It also won ‘Independent Country Album of the Year’ at the AIR Awards and was nominated for an ARIA, as was her debut album, 2015’s Small Town Big Shot. Having also won ‘New Talent of the Year’ at the Golden Guitar Awards and ‘New Artist of the Year’ at the Country Music Channel Awards, Lumsden has forged a deep connection with music fans having completed numerous tours throughout rural Australia.

In 2020, Fanny Lumsden proudly teamed up with Cooking Vinyl Australia releasing her third album fallow. The stunning chart-topping album was embraced by the public, supportive radio & critics, winning Fanny many accolades (ARIA Award, 5 x Golden Guitars, AIR Country Album of the Year) and shooting the singer-songwriter to the forefront of the Australian Country music scene.

Fast track two years and fallow Part 2 was released, in fallow & Variations. Featuring reinterpretations of the songs, such as singles This Too Shall Pass, Dig, Fierce, These Days, Grown Ups, Tidy Town…fallow & Variations saw Fanny, Dan Stanley Freeman and several guests head back into the studio, with Matt Fell back at the helm, to show another side to fallow.

Showing no signs of slowing down, 2022 is shaping up to be another huge year for Fanny, who is currently on tour around Australia for her Deep in the Fallow Tour.
